The processions involving the 72 Taboots are significant events observed during the month of Muharram, which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Husain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. These processions are held in remembrance of the Battle of Karbala, a historical event in which Imam Husain and his companions were martyred.

This solemn yet awe-inspiring procession is an integral part of the Muharram observances, a significant month in the Islamic calendar. It is a time of reflection, mourning, and remembrance, as devotees pay homage to the sacrifices made by Imam Hussain and his followers.

Accompanied by a sea of mourners, the Taboots moved slowly, rhythmically, and almost trance-like through the streets. The participants, dressed in black attire, their faces etched with grief, carried banners, recited elegies, and beat their chests in sorrowful remembrance. The entire scene was a powerful display of collective mourning and solidarity, reflecting the enduring spirit of the Islamic faith.
